Central PA Steelers Fans Have Games Blacked Out
Tell the NFL that Central PA is Steelers Country!

Before this season, Myron had missed only five quarters of Steelers football in his 34 years on the job.
He missed one quarter of a game early in his career to attend the funeral of his brother-in-law. He missed a game in 1994, when his wife, Mildred, died.  Pittsburgh Post-Gazette 11/08/2004

Every Steelers fan knows that there is nothing like watching a game called by Myron Cope, Bill Hillgrove and Tunch Ilkin. Myron makes the bad games bearable and makes the great games even better. Widely known as the creator of the Terrible Towel, Myron has also been given credit by Jack Ham with coining the "Steel Curtain" nickname for the Hall of Fame defense of the 70's. He also was the first broadcaster to use Michael Ord's Immaculate Reception description of Franco's miraculous catch. More complete biographical information can be found in Pitt Magazine.

I am one of many Steelers fans who mute the TV broadcasters (see P-G 9/28/98) in order to listen to Myron, Bill and Tunch on Pittsburgh Steelers network stations.

Double Yoi! is Myron's autobiography, but like his announcing style, it's anything but conventional. Born Myron Sydney Kopelman, he tells about the unusual way he got started in sports writing, his colorful career as a member of the Sports Illustrated staff, and how he eventually evolved into a radio-television performer.
